Carter Jonas has appointed Alexandra Houghton as its new Head of Commercial. Alexandra will take up the role on 1 May 2025 and join the firm’s Management Board. Based out of Carter Jonas’ London headquarters, One Chapel Place, Alexandra succeeds Scott Harkness, who has been in the post since 2011.

Scott remains with the business, taking on a new position as Head of Transactions within the Commercial division. In an additional leadership shift, Richard Love, currently Head of Building Consultancy, will step into the newly created role as Head of Consultancy. In this position, he will continue to lead the firm's building consultancy services and oversee commercial valuations, property management, and consultancy and strategy services. This revised structure aims to support the next phase of the firm’s growth by providing a dedicated focus on its transactional and consultancy offerings.

Alexandra has over 20 years of property experience, specialising in public sector consultancy and advising public and private sector clients on strategy and estate change. Having joined Carter Jonas in 2014, she joined its Commercial Board the following year and achieved equity partner status in 2021. As part of the Consultancy and Strategy team and as Head of Public Sector, Alexandra has been instrumental in growing the firm’s team and commercial services and strengthening its geographical reach, helping to solidify its positions as a national, multi-disciplinary consultancy.

Over the past decade, Richard has played a significant role in expanding Carter Jonas’ commercial business. Having joined the firm in 2015, he is also a member of its Commercial Board and was appointed as an Equity Partner in 2021. Leading the firm’s building consultancy services, he has grown its turnover by nearly 100% in the last five years.
